NEWS BULLETIN:
Construction Update For July 21, 2010
|
Thousand Oaks - Despite the reduced building schedule, we have made significant progress on our 52nd home. Due to the relocation of our business office and ReStore, there will be NO weekday construction until August 11th. We will continue to build on Saturdays, but you must register with Volunteer UP on our website. If you are interested in scheduling a group of volunteers or set up a Team Building Day, please contact Matt Gilling at 805-485-6065 or email him at mattg@habitatventura.org. Many thanks to Los Robles Hospital for sponsoring this project!
The Current Progress of our Thousand Oaks Project

Piru - This past Saturday, in partnership with St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Westlake Village, we had the Ground Blessing and Wall Raising for the Vergara Family's house. Despite temperatures of over 100 degrees, all the exterior walls were put up. We hope to have the next wall raising in mid-August. Our volunteer count for Piru over the next few weeks is minimal, so if you would like to join us on any of the next 5 Saturdays, we would appreciate your support. Due to our relocation project, there will be NO weekday construction until August 11th. If you are interested in scheduling a group of volunteers or a Team Building Day, please contact Matt at his contact information listed above.

Habitat for Humanity is Moving and We Need Your Help!
|
We are in the midst of getting our business office ready to move to our new location on July 27th. Where we really need help is packing up and moving the ReStore. We need at least 10-20 volunteers to come out and help us on July 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st. If you or anyone you know can spare some free time to assist us with this massive endeavor, we would be eternally grateful. Volunteers with pick-up trucks would be especially welcome!!
Don't Miss out on the Huge ReStore Sale!!
|
From now thru July 28th, the ReStore is having a 50% off sale to help reduce inventory. Please stop by and see the amazing bargains that are available. The ReStore is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Tuesday - Friday and on Saturdays from 8:00 - 4:00 PM. By shopping at the ReStore now you will not only get deal of a lifetime, but you will be supporting our affiliate's mission of eliminating poverty housing in Ventura County. But wait…there's more! The more inventory we can sell by the 28th will help make our transition over to the new location much easier and less expensive. This creates a win/win/win/win scenario! Don't miss out on this great opportunity!!
Special Group Recognition!!
|
On behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire Staff here at Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, we would like to thank the groups of volunteers who come out in support of our mission. Over the last three weeks, we have had volunteers from: the Conejo Valley Kiwanis Club/Thousand Oaks, KMP Financial Network/Thousand Oaks, the Army Family Readiness Group/Ventura, CLU Alumni/Thousand Oaks, Emmaus Church/Camarillo, Shepard of the Valley Church/West Hills, and the Parishioners of St. Maximillian Kolbe Church/Westlake Village. We really value our relationships with these groups and are glad that we can work together to end poverty housing in Ventura County!

Bill Larson Riding 100 Miles to Help Families in Need
Bill Larson will be riding his bike 100 miles in the Solvang Prelude on November 6 to raise money for "Habitat to the Max," a ministry of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church working together to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County.
There are many deserving and hard-working families who qualify to purchase homes that are built in partnership with Habitat-partner families, volunteers, and funds raised by Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. Last year Bill raised $28,000 and has set a goal of $30,000 for this year's ride.
"In previous years, many of you have generously donated to the cause, and I am asking for your help again in 2010 to help me to raise money for this extremely satisfying and worthwhile cause. Thanks for your generosity." - Bill Larson
We appreciate your support. To make a donation online, visit http://www.active.com/donate/habitatbilll. If you prefer to send a check, please make it payable to 'Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County" and mail it to Bill Larson's home address: 5651 Hazelcrest Circle, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.
