NEWS BULLETIN:
Construction Update For July 3rd
|
Simi Valley - Since our wall raising on house # 1 two weeks ago, things are moving right along. We are getting close to putting in the drywall on houses # 2 and # 3. Once again, a big thank you to all the volunteers who have been coming out to Simi Valley to help with the construction. Just to let everybody know, there will be no construction activity on our Simi site on Friday, July 4th or Saturday, July 5th. We hope that everybody will be able to enjoy the 4th of July holiday with their families. Construction will resume on Wednesday, July 9th.
Oxnard - We continue to wait for the approval of our building permits. Our scheduled ground-breaking has been pushed back to later this month, but that could change. I will be looking for another set of volunteers to help us build this duplex so watch your email for your opportunity to help us get this project off the ground.
Santa Paula - With our lot now cleared of most of the debris, we are waiting for our preliminary building permits to be issued. We are hoping to break ground on this project in September. Stay tuned for further updates as they develop.
Future Projects - With some good strategic planning, we expect to start projects in Thousand Oaks, Oxnard and possibly Piru in the next two years. We couldn't possibly pursue our mission without your help and we know that we can count on you in the future!
Special Volunteer Recognition!!
|
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire Staff here at Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, we would like to recognize the outstanding efforts of Debbie Thompson! Debbie is our Accounting volunteer who has been working in our office every Wednesday for the last two and half years. She handles our accounts payable, bank deposits, mortgage servicing, special projects and assigned administrative duties. She has been an invaluable asset to our organization and we would be lost without her help. Thanks Debbie for all you do for us and our families!!
Special Group Recognition!!
|
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the groups of volunteers who come out and help us each week. This past week, we had volunteers from the following groups: Our Wednesday Crew, the Cal Lutheran Volunteer Group, the Intuit Group and the Seabees of VCNB. We really value our relationships with these groups and are glad that we can work together to end poverty housing in Ventura County!
Attention All Single Volunteers!!
|
On Saturday, July 12th, we are going to sponsor a special event at our Simi Valley worksite. We are hosting a Singles Build Day. Registration is limited to the first 30 men and 30 women who sign up. Wanted: House and Crew Leaders!
|
We are looking for special volunteers who are willing to step up to be House Leaders and Crew Leaders for our upcoming projects in Oxnard and Santa Paula. House Leaders should have some construction knowledge, but it is not necessary. Their main duty is to maintain a positive attitude while evaluating volunteer workload and progress. Crew Leaders should have some construction knowledge or be willing to learn on the job. Crew Leaders must be available at least one Saturday per month and work with the House Leaders to set the pace of construction and resolve challenging situations on the worksite. If you are interested in either position, please contact our Construction Manager, John Kistler, at 805-890-2611 or at johnk@habitatventura.org. Thanks for your consideration!
