Meet The Ruvalcaba Family
For years, Sonia and her son, Roberto, moved from rental to rental, searching for stability. Each move disrupted their sense of security and made it harder to settle into a routine.
Sharing a small bedroom, Sonia watched her son struggle to focus on homework while dreaming of a brighter future.
“We received the call of being selected and oh we were so happy! We were crying in the car, we couldn't believe it and kept saying 'Thank you, God, thank you!'," expressed Sonia. Thanks to volunteers and donors, that future is within reach. Through Habitat Ventura’s Homeownership Program, Sonia and Roberto moved into their very own home. For the first time, Sonia now has a kitchen to cook healthy meals, and her son has a safe space to grow and thrive.
Every brick, every nail, every act of kindness from donors and volunteers has made this transformation possible, building not just a home — but hope.
