Cleta Rose is a longtime Ventura County resident. She found herself feeling unsafe when she learned that the stairs leading to her front door and her back door of her mobile home had termite damage, making them unstable. She thought if there was ever a fire, she'd have no safe way to get out of her home. Saving aluminum cans was her only source of income to try and save enough money to repair the stairs.

Then Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers stepped in, fixing Cleta's stairs and giving her the safety and security she needed.

“I went up and down my stairs a number of times, I was just so excited. I can’t tell you how relieved and safe I felt once they were finished."
