Meet Sara and Travis
In December 2025, eight hardworking families experienced the joy of spending the holidays in their very own homes for the first time at Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County’s new Vista Campanario community in Camarillo.
One of those families is Sara and her son Travis.
Sara has been on a tight income her whole adult life. Being a single mother and raising her sons made finding a stable and affordable home difficult. From living in a home with mold, to being displaced by their apartment being sold, Sara and Travis were on the lookout to find an affordable home big enough for them and their dog Suey.
After receiving the call last year that they had been chosen for a Habitat home, Sara and Travis got to work. They helped build their own home at Vista Campanario, and soon they’ll unlock the front door together for the very first time, as homeowners.
“We were really excited to move in,” Sara said. “It was like having a bundle of angels around us.”
