For years, Sonia and her son, Roberto, moved from rental to rental, searching for stability. Each move disrupted their sense of security and made it harder to settle into a routine.

Sharing a small bedroom, Sonia watched her son struggle to focus on homework while dreaming of a brighter future.

“We received the call of being selected and oh we were so happy! We were crying in the car, we couldn't believe it and kept saying 'Thank you, God, thank you!'," expressed Sonia.

Thanks to volunteers and donors, that future is within reach. Through Habitat Ventura’s Homeownership Program, Sonia and Roberto are preparing to move into their very own home. For the first time, Sonia will have a kitchen to cook healthy meals, and her son will have space to grow and thrive.

“Your support has given us a chance to build the life we’ve always dreamed of,” Sonia said with gratitude.
