First-time homeowners to move into affordable Camarillo townhomes


More than 2,500 applicants applied for the eight units available in Camarillo, an official said.

From the article, “The National Association of Realtors affordability index, which factors in both home prices and wages, ranks Ventura County second to the Los Angeles area as the least affordable place in the nation. ‘Applicants have gone through interviews, an application process, financial scrutiny, background checks and a lottery,’ Taylor said. ‘They’ve also had to work on their house for a certain number of hours, described as sweat equity,’ he said. ‘Through the Vista Campanario model with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, homes were priced around $250,000 with a resale restriction, ensuring they remain affordable for future generations,’ he said.”
