Meet Amanda
Because of our generous supporters, Amanda moved into the first home that she has ever owned. “Even if you don’t make a lot of money and you don’t have a lot of things, you can still have a home and be happy and safe,” said Amanda.
Amanda and her teenage child had built a steady life in their Camarillo condo. Then she learned they would have to move so the landlord could return, and everything shifted all at once.
“I had already looked at rentals, and I knew there was no way I could afford to continue living here.”
Amanda was born and raised in Camarillo, where she is now raising her teenager. “They spent their whole childhood and education in Camarillo, just like I did. Taking them away from their friends and community is something I was struggling with. I thought, ‘I have to find a way to keep us here.’” In the face of uncertainty, Amanda searched the internet and found Habitat Ventura.
“Stuff like this, I didn’t even realize that it was real. It’s a little bit of the weight lifted off. Every day I feel lighter,” said Amanda.
Every day, people’s lives are changed because you choose to give.
“Only very special people give back in this way. It touches my heart a lot. Thank you,” shared Amanda. As we begin a new year, your continued support helps more families in Ventura County experience that same sense of belonging, one home and one story at a time.
