Simi Valley Home Preservation – June 29th Dedication

On Saturday afternoon, June 29, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County will celebrate the completion of another home preservation in Simi Valley.

The ceremony will begin at 9:00pm at 4570 Cochran Street.

The homeowner, who is disabled, has tried to keep up the home but has fallen behind. “I have tried my best to maintain the home by doing things here and there but I get overwhelmed at times. My leg doesn’t help me much either, but I refuse to let the upkeep go,” says the homeowner.

It is precisely cases such as these where Preserve a Home makes a huge impact.Homeowners receive a much needed “hand up” as Habitat staff and volunteers pitch-in and help them get their home life back on track. We give them a fresh start and, more importantly, hope — hope that gives our homeowners a brand new outlook on life.

Scope of work for this home includes roof replacement, exterior clean-up, exterior paint, kitchen ceiling drywall repair, interior bathroom repairs, drainage repair at the garage driveway, and a new concrete driveway.

Thanks to our partners at the City of Simi Valley, a Community Development Block Fund Grant (CDBG) will  help Habitat purchase materials. The homeowner will participate in Habitat’s “Sweat Equity” program and will also contribute financially upon completion of the work.
