Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County (HFHVC) is launching its first ever Playhouse Build Day with realtor.com®’s Westlake Village office. The Playhouse Program is a new effort by HFHVC to bring together local corporations, the community and Habitat volunteers to build and donate playhouses to local military and veteran families.
On September 22, over 200 realtor.com® employees will trade their computers for screwdrivers and paintbrushes as they team up and work together to build custom-made playhouses in one day. The teams will be constructing durable playhouses by assembling the sides, door, windows and trim, constructing the roof, and painting the structure. Realtor.com® has made a donation to offset the cost of playhouse building materials and to fund the construction of actual Habitat homes in Ventura County.
The completed playhouse will be presented by the realtor.com volunteers to the military families at the end of the day for a truly unifying experience. To select the families that receive these playhouses, Habitat for Humanity partnered with the Ventura County Military Collaborative, a network of over 180 government and non-profit agencies that work together to assist the military and veteran community. Kimberly Evans, executive director, was delighted to help give these children a home to call their own, “We are proud to partner with Habitat to provide such beautiful playhouses to those who have sacrificed so much for their country, it truly shows the value of collaboration”.
“At realtor.com, we work to make all things home simple, efficient and enjoyable,” said Marcy Greenberg, Executive Vice President of People. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to give back to the communities we call home and spend the day building playhouses for local military and veteran families.”
