Habitat’s 55th and 56th new homes were dedicated on Saturday, September 15. Both families are comprised of hard working single mothers – each with 4 lovely daughters. In addition to demonstrating a need for decent and safe housing, ability to pay a monthly mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity, each family completed a series of classes, including budgeting and home maintenance. Helping both women through this entire process have been Habitat volunteers, Rosa Montelongo, a Habitat homeowner herself and Leticia Tejada.
These simple, decent homes will allow both women to raise their own daughters in homes they can be very proud of – homes that would not have been possible without the support of the City of Oxnard, local businesses and hundreds of individual volunteers! The homes were sponsored by the City of Oxnard, St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church “Habitat to the Max” Ministry, the Coalition of Churches, Blois Construction and West Coast Air.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of the donors, friends, sponsors, volunteers, and partners who made this possible!
